Reading Then Constructing Test Questions

Description

A learner reads on a particular topic or a chapter in a textbook. After reading, he then constructs test questions on what he has read.

This is a method of learning that will go for mastery. Before the learner can construct the test questions, he must have a full and comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. As he constructs the test questions, he learns further. As he analyzes and discusses the test questions with his peers or colleagues to whom he administered the test, mastery of learning takes place.

Another advantage of this method of learning is that the learner learns how to make test questions and he learns how to take the examinations as well.

"Reading Then Constructing Test Questions" will be utilized as one of the learning activities in the GSI Division.

Implementation and Mechanics

The participants will be assigned chapters in standard general surgery textbooks to read and then construct selection type of objective-written examination (choose one best answer and multiple correct response questions). The examination will be administered to the participants who did not make the test. The participant who constructed the test will discuss the answers with the participant-examiners.

The test questions will be studied by the faculty. Editing will be done as necessary. Feedback will be given to the participant-examiner.
