General
Objective
To acquire the requisite knowledge, skills, and
attitude in the management of patients with head and neck, breast,
esophagus, and soft tissue surgical diseases.
Specific
Objectives
- To diagnose logically and accurately all patients
with head and neck, breast, esophagus, and soft tissue surgical
diseases.
- To institute competent preoperative,
intraoperative, and postoperative management to patients with
surgical diseases of the head and neck, breast, esophagus, and
soft tissue.
Categories of
Residents
- 1st year surgery residents
- 4th year general surgery residents
- 5th year general surgery residents
Expectations For Each Category of
Residents
1st Year Surgery Residents
- To diagnose logically and accurately all patients
with head and neck, breast, esophagus, and soft tissue surgical
diseases.
- To institute competent preoperative and
postoperative management to patients with surgical diseases of the
head and neck, breast, esophagus, and soft tissue.
- To institute competent preoperative and
postoperative management to patients with acute surgical abdomen
and incarcerated inguinal hernia.
4th Year General Surgery
Residents
- To institute competent surgical treatment to all
patients with surgical diseases of the breast and thyroid.
- To institute competent surgical treatment to all
patients with acute surgical abdomen and incarcerated inguinal
hernia.
5th Year General Surgery
Residents
- To institute competent surgical treatment to all
patients with surgical diseases of the soft tissue, head and neck,
and esophagus.
- To teach management of head and neck, breast,
esophagus, and soft tissue surgical diseases to medical students
and lower level GSI residents.
- To perform administrative functions as authorized
by the GSI consultant staff.
