General
Objective
To acquire the requisite knowledge, skills, and
attitude of a primary health care physician in the management of
patients with head and neck, breast, esophagus, and soft tissue
surgical diseases.
Specific
Objectives
At the end of the training in GSI, the graduate who
is considered to be a primary health care physician, should be able
to:
- Explain the pathophysiology of common head and
neck, breast, esophagus, and soft tissue surgical diseases.
- Make a logical diagnosis of common head and neck,
breast, esophagus, and soft tissue surgical diseases.
- Choose the proper diagnostic procedures needed by
a patient with a possible head and neck, breast, esophagus, and
soft tissue surgical condition.
- Perform the necessary surgical diagnostic
procedures that he is trained to do in patients with possible head
and neck, breast, esophagus, and soft tissue surgical
diseases.
- Identify patients with problems in the head and
neck, breast, esophagus, and soft tissue who need surgery and the
reasons for such treatment.
- Formulate a plan for definitive treatment for
patients with a head and neck, breast, esophagus, and soft tissue
surgical condition.
- Perform the necessary surgical therapeutic
procedures that he is trained to do in patients with head and
neck, breast, esophagus, and soft tissue surgial diseases.
- Administer the necessary initial treatment in
patients with a surgical condition in the head and neck, breast,
esophagus, and soft tissue who have to be subsequently managed by
a surgeon.
- Perform life-saving sugical procedures in
patients with life-threatening surgical conditions involving the
head and neck, breast, esophagus, and soft tissue.
- Accept his limitations in the practice of surgery
in patients with head and neck, breast, esophagus, and soft tissue
and know when and to whom to refer.
